Fellowship trained in Limb Reconstruction techniques (Sheffield) and in elective Adult Foot & Ankle surgery (Brisbane). He has a specific interest in additive manufacturing processes for custom solutions. He has been an investigator in many local, national and international clinical trials and has published extensively on many aspects of foot and ankle surgery. Past President of the British Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (BOFAS) having been the former Honorary Secretary and ordinary member of the Scientific Committee.

Kenneth Obionu
I am a senior consultant orthopaedic surgeon based in Copenhagen, Denmark, specialising in Foot and Ankle surgery. I currently lead the Foot and Ankle Surgical Unit at Bispebjerg and Frederiksberg Hospitals, serving a population of just under one million people across three municipalities in the Capital Region.
A significant part of my clinical and academic work has focused particularly on ankle instability and the deltoid ligament. I have been actively involved in research aimed at improving diagnostic accuracy, refining treatment strategies, and enhancing the evaluation of patient outcomes in these areas.

Heidi Haapasalo

For the last 5 years she has been working as a chief medical officer at a private sports medicine clinic, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of ankle and foot injuries and disorders.

Nikke Partio is a Finnish foot and ankle surgeon at Tampere University Hospital, serving as DeputyChief of Foot and Ankle Surgery. Bjarke Viberg
Bjarke Viberg is Professor in Orthopaedic Traumatology with a research focus on treatment and rehabilitation of orthopaedic trauma patients. His research aims to optimize patient pathways through evidence-based evaluation of surgical techniques, rehabilitation strategies, and clinical decision-making processes. He is head of the Danish Orthopaedic Academy as well as co-founder of the Nordic Research Collaboration in Orthopaedic Traumatology. He is involved in several large multicenter RCT on fracture patients including an upcoming RCT on ankle fracture treatment.

Emilia Möller Rydberg
Emilia is an orthopedic specialist and clinically active in the trauma section at the orthopedic department at Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg/Mölndal. Emilia has a doctorate in the subject of ankle fractures with a focus on knowledge support and efficiency of healthcare resources from a trauma perspective. More recent studies include analysis of gait data from wearables and smartphones, validation of complication scores, and clinical studies on weight-bearing radiographs to guide treatment of ankle fractures.

Mette Renate Andersen
Dr. Mette Renate Andersen is a specialist in orthopaedic surgery and a sports medicine physician (NIMF). She completed her specialist training at Bærum Hospital and Oslo University Hospital and currently works as an orthopaedic surgeon at Aleris in Tromsø. She completed her PhD in 2018 on the treatment of syndesmotic injuries.
Dr. Andersen served as Chair of the Norwegian Arthroscopy Association from 2019 to 2023. She is a board member of ESSKA AFAS, Head of the ESSKA certification module for ankle ligament pathology, an ESSKA-accredited instructor, and contributes to education in ankle and foot surgery both nationally and internationally. She is a member of the KSSTA Editorial Board and also serves as a reviewer for Injury.

Marianne Lund Eriksen
Marianne Lund Eriksen is a senior consultant orthopedic surgeon at Diakonhjemmet Hospital in Oslo, where she has worked for nearly 20 years. Early in her career, she treated patients with inflammatory joint disease and gained broad experience in joint replacement surgery. She has specialized in foot and ankle surgery for most of her career and currently serves as Head of the Foot and Ankle Section. Her main clinical interests include ankle osteoarthritis and ankle arthroplasty, with experience in both primary and revision procedures, as well as low-energy orthopedic trauma surgery. She is a member of the Norwegian Foot and Ankle Society (NOFAF), the European Foot and Ankle Society (EFAS), and the EFAS Specimen Society.

Espen Spildo Laudal
Espen Spildo Laudal is a senior physician at the Foot and Ankle Section, Orthopedic department, Oslo University Hospital. He has experience in elective and acute foot and ankle surgery. His clinical practice includes deformity correction, sports injuries, minimally invasive surgery, arthroscopy, and foot and ankle trauma.

Elisabeth E. Husebye
Elisabeth Ellingsen Husebye is Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Institute of Clinical Medicine, University of Oslo, and senior consultant at the Foot and Ankle Section, Oslo University Hospital. She has years of experience in orthopaedic traumatology and in elective and acute foot and ankle surgery. Her clinical practice focuses mainly on complex foot and ankle surgery, including deformity correction, sports injuries, post-fracture sequelae, minimally invasive surgery, arthroscopy, and foot and ankle trauma. She has published scientific articles on ankle and talus fractures, Lisfranc injuries, plantar fasciitis, and chronic Achilles tendon ruptures. She is Chair of the Norwegian National Network for Adult Foot and Ankle Deformity Surgery and is Past President of the Norwegian Foot and Ankle Association (NOFAF).

Michael Quan Nguyen
Michael Quan Nguyen, M.D., Ph.D, is an orthopaedic surgeon at Stavanger University Hospital. His research within the field of clinimetrics was initiated as a collaboration between the research environment at the orthopaedic surgery department in Stavanger and the Norwegian Fracture Registry. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University in Stavanger. His doctoral thesis focused on the validation of patient-reported outcome measures used in ankle fracture patients and addressed the importance of measurement properties in selecting clinical outcomes in patient follow-up.

Tarjei Vinje
Tarjei Vinje is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Haukeland University Hospital, Bergen, Norway, where he has worked since 2004. During his first decade, he focused on traumatology, including the surgical management of pelvic and polytrauma patients. Over the past ten years, he has concentrated on foot and ankle surgery, with particular interest in arthroscopy. Dr. Vinje has a special focus on syndesmotic injuries and has published a clinical study on surgical treatment of chronic isolated syndesmotic instability. He is also engaged in methodology, statistics, and the development of patient-reported outcome measures for more precise evaluation of surgical results.

Jonas Rydinge
Specialist in orthopedic surgery. Since 2014 employed at Oslo University Hospital as a consultant.
2014-2023 professional officer on a military surgical team and carried out several missions in Afghanistan and Iraq. From 2019 consultant at the foot and ankle section at Ullevål Hospital. Conducts research within Hyperbaric oxygen therapy with patients who have complicated infections or injuries to the ankle and foot. Interested in sports medicine and has been a doctor for Hønefoss ball club for several seasons.

Anna Sprinchorn
Dr Anna Sprinchorn is a senior consultant at Uppsala University Hospital, Sweden. She has worked with foot and ankle surgery since 2001, and did her fellowship at the Victorian Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Clinic in Melbourne, Australia, in 2009-2010. Dr Sprinchorn has worked for many years towards improving education in foot and ankle surgery for medical students and residents. She also has a keen interest in research, with a dissertation in January 2025 on clinical work on peroneal tendon injuries and surgery. She holds the European Certification in Trauma and Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgery.

Tor Kristian Andresen
Tor Kristian Andresen serves as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at the Foot and Ankle Unit, Akershus University Hospital, with over five years of dedicated research experience in Achilles tendon pathology. Currently pursuing his PhD at the University of Oslo, his doctoral research focuses on Achilles tendon ruptures, combining clinical expertise with academic investigation in this specialized field.

Benedikte Wendt Ræder
Benedikte Wendt Ræder, MD, PhD, is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at the Foot and Ankle Unit, Martina Hansen Hospital, Norway. Dr Ræder obtained her PhD in 2021 with a doctoral thesis focusing on complex ankle fractures, with particular emphasis on fracture patterns, stability, and treatment strategies. Her clinical and academic interests are centered on ankle arthroscopy and minimally invasive surgery (MIS) in foot and ankle pathology. She is actively involved in research, education, and multidisciplinary collaboration within the field of foot and ankle surgery.

Sebastian Mukka
Currently, work as a consultant orthopedic surgeon at the Orthopedic Department at Umeå University Hospital and an adjunct Professor at Umeå University.
Dissertation 2015 at Umeå University, obtained specialized expertise in orthopedics by 2018, the position of associate professor in 2019 and adjunct professorship during 2025. The research output encompasses cohort, register, and prospective randomized clinical studies in different areas of mainly orthopaedic trauma surgery.
At present, I supervise a doctoral student with a thesis focusing on talar fractures.

Marius Molund
Marius Molund, MD, PhD, is a Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in foot and ankle surgery. He serves as the Head of the Foot and Ankle Section at Østfold Hospital. With extensive clinical experience, Dr. Molund is also a dedicated researcher and mentor to several PhD candidates. Additionally, he serves as an Associate Editor for the journal Foot & Ankle International.

Karin Rydevik
Karin Rydevik is a Specialist in Sports Physiotherapy, MSc, and serves as the Manager of the Physiotherapy Department at Volvat Nimi (Norwegian Institute of Sports Medicine) in Oslo. She has specialized expertise in rehabilitation following Achilles tendon rupture, focusing on return to activity and sport. She works almost exclusively clinically with Achilles tendon ruptures, ranging from active athletes to complex chronic cases. She has also been involved in several research projects on Achilles tendon ruptures.

Andreas Persson
Dr. Andreas Persson is an orthopedic surgeon at Oslo University Hospital (Aker), specializing in complex knee surgery, hip arthroscopy, and sports medicine. He has served as team physician for the Norwegian national snowboard and freeski team since 2019. He graduated from University of Bergen, completed training in Bergen and Oslo, and earned a PhD in 2019 on risk factors for ACL revision surgery. His research focuses on ACL registry data and machine learning–based predictive models.

Wolfram Grün
Wolfram Grün, MD, MA is an Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgeon at Oslo University Hospital, Norway, and a PhD candidate at the University of Oslo (expected 2027). He is also a trained musician, holding a Master’s degree in Violoncello Performance.
His academic work focuses on foot traumatology – particularly calcaneal fractures and Lisfranc injuries – as well as Weightbearing CT (WBCT) and Progressive Collapsing Foot Deformity (PCFD). His research includes clinical studies and randomized controlled trials. He completed a one-year research fellowship at Duke University, USA (2024–2025) under the mentorship of Cesar de Cesar Netto.
Wolfram has authored and co-authored of multiple peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and is the recipient of the 2026 AAOS Best Paper Award. He currently serves as President of the Norwegian Foot & Ankle Society (NOFAF) and an active member of EFAS, AOFAS and ESSKA.

Marianne Toft
Marianne Toft is Associate Professor in orthopaedic surgery of both traumatology and elective conditions. Main research focus is Achilles tendon ruptures with a recently conducted large national, multicentre RCT on an individualized treatment algorithm. She is clinically subspecialized in Foot and Ankle Surgery and a member of the research collaborations Danish Orthopaedic Academy as well as Nordic Innovative Trial to Evaluate Osteoporotic Fractures.

Mike Carmont
Mike Carmont is a Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon with an interest in Sports Medicine at Shrewsbury & Telford Hospital Trust. Since becoming a Consultant he has maintained a research programme in patients with Achilles tendon ruptures. He defended his PhD on the Evaluation and Outcome of Percutaneous and Minimally Invasive Repair of Achilles tendon rupture in 2017 at Gothenburg University.
He was recently invited to be Co-Chair of the ESSKA-AFAS Achilles Tendon Rupture Consensus Project completed 2026.
His most important role is Dad to two girls and looks after two dogs. Any other spare time is spent running in the mountains.

Ståle Myhrvold
Ståle Myhrvold is a specialist in orthopedic surgery at Volvat Nimi private hospital at Storo in Oslo mainly focusing on hip- and knee-surgery. Furthermore, he is an expert specialist for the Norwegian System of Patient Injury Compensation (NPE). His PhD from the University of Oslo (2022) focused on the treatment of acute Achilles Tendon Rupture, and he is currently supervising a PhD project at Ahus University hospital including long termfollow-up of patients from a large Norwegian multicenter RCT regarding acute AchillesTendon Ruptures.

James Calder
James Calder is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at the Fortius Clinic London and Professor in the Department of Bioengineering, Imperial College. His main area of interest is the management of foot and ankle injuries in athletes. He looks after the English Premier League Clubs, many of the European football clubs, England and Irish Rugby, Indian and England cricket team and the GB Olympic teams. He is Medical Advisor to Dance UK and orthopaedic surgeon to the Royal Ballet, English National Ballet and the Birmingham Royal Ballet.
James is past-chairman of ESSKA-AFAS and on the committee of the International Cartilage Research Society. He was Associate Editor for the Bone & Joint Journal and KSSTA Journal.
James was honorary consultant advisor to UK Health Security Agency for elite sports and performing arts and chairs sport committees for Department of Digital, Culture, Media & Sport. He is also Chair of the UKGovt committee which developed Concussion in Sport Guidelines.
Outside of medicine he plays tennis and sails. He served with infantry units prior to becoming a surgeon, initially as a reservist. In 2025 he and 3 other veterans completed a 1500km trek on camels across Saudi Arabia and Jordan for the Special Forces Benevolent Fund recreating the route taken by TE Laurence in 1917.

Carl Erik Alm
Carl Erik Alm is a senior consultant in the Trauma Section at Oslo University Hospital, Ullevål. His clinical practice focuses on pelvic-, complex lower-limb trauma, and reconstructive procedures. He is actively involved in research and is currently completing his PhD on trochanteric hip fractures. In addition to his clinical duties, Dr. Alm is actively involved in education, teaching at several national and international fracture courses.

Haris Mešić
Dr. Haris Mešić is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon and Head of the Microsurgical Unit at Rikshospitalet, Oslo University Hospital. He graduated from the University of Sarajevo in 1988 and completed specialist training in plastic surgery in Bosnia and Herzegovina, England, and Austria.
He has worked in plastic surgery since 1992 and has been a consultant since 1998. His subspecialty is reconstructive microsurgery, with particular expertise in extremity reconstruction after trauma and breast reconstruction following cancer. He collaborates closely with orthopaedic surgeons on complex cases requiring combined expertise and is actively engaged in research on microcirculation in free flap surgery.

Are Haukåen Stødle
Are Stødle is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon and Head of the Foot and Ankle Surgery Unit at Oslo University Hospital, Norway, where he has worked since 2010. He also serves as orthopaedic physician at the Norwegian Olympic Sports Centre. He graduated from the University of Bergen in 2005 and completed his orthopaedic specialisation in 2014. In 2021 he defended his PhD on acute Lisfranc injuries. His research has been published in leading journals including Foot & Ankle International and Foot & Ankle Surgery, with a particular focus on foot and ankle trauma including Lisfranc injuries, and arthroscopic techniques. His clinical interests encompass foot and ankle trauma, ankle arthroscopy, and deformity correction. He contributes to education in foot and ankle surgery both nationally and internationally.

Marit Mjelde Laane
Marit Mjelde Laane is a senior consultant in the musculoskeletal section, Department of Radiology, Oslo University Hospital.
Currently working as a musculoskeletal radiologist. She has been working as msk-radiologist since 2011, Stavanger University Hospital from 2011-2014 and Oslo University Hospital since 2014.
She has been involved in education, research and multidisciplinary collaboration in musculoskeletal radiology with a special interests in ankle/foot.

Johan Castberg Hellund
Johan Castberg Hellund, Ph.D. works as senior consultant and holds the position as head of the Musculoskeletal (MSK) radiology section at Oslo University hospital, Ullevål and Aker. The section provides radiology services in MSK to patients 16 years of age or older, related to orthopedic trauma both minor and major, infections, joint surgery and spine. MSK collaborates closely with Norway’s largest outpatient orthopedic and emergency clinic at Aker, including a large ankle/foot section. He has been involved in education related to radiology the last two and a half decades, with also a focus on implementing new technologies related to MSK.

Martin Gregersen
Martin Gregersen is a physiotherapist and PhD candidate at Østfold Hospital Trust and the University of Oslo. His research focuses on ankle fracture stability, particularly
Weber B / SER injuries. He investigates the clinical dilemma of fractures that are stress-unstable but weightbearing-congruent, with emphasis on improving diagnostic precision and informing treatment decisions.

Kristian Pilskog
Kristian Pilskog, MD, PhD, is an orthopedic surgeon and attending physician at Haukeland University Hospital, Norway. He completed his PhD on ankle fractures with a special emphasis on posterior malleolus fractures and fracture‑related infection, and is actively engaged in advancing fracture care through clinical research and the use of patient‑reported outcome measures.
